Dr Petula Nurse, Principal Lecturer in Biomedical Science, lectures on the role of Biomedical Science in the understanding of disease presentation, diagnosis, prognosis and choice of patient treatment and teaches in the practical laboratory sessions.

Petula Nurse is also the Head of STEM Outreach & Community Engagement across the Faculty of Science & Engineering (FSE). This role involves raising the awareness of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) to inspire pupils at schools and colleges and people in the community and reach out to the young people who are the next generation of professionals.

Petula is also part of the marketing, recruitment and outreach (MRO) team which organises, facilitates and delivers hands-on interactive activities and workshops throughout the year externally and at the University and for the FSE annual Science & Engineering Festival (SciFest). SciFest is designed to appeal to pupils from primary, junior, secondary schools and colleges and families to raise their aspirations and awareness of the diversity and nature of STEM opportunities.
