I am a lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences. My background is in social sciences and in herbal medicine. I have been a practitioner of Western herbal medicine for over 15 years. I practice in South London.

I brought my disciplinary interests of Herbal Medicine and Social Sciences together in my PhD research, which gathered herbalists' biographies in order to understand Western herbal medicine from the perspective of the relationship between herbalists and plants.

I am continuing my research interests in several projects including working with a Korean academic on 19th Century Korean medicine and also in a STEAM project that looks at trajectories of scientific knowledge. I am also developing two further projects. The first seeks to identify and expand new ways of understanding how plant medicine may benefit human health. And the second is concerned with the social implications of big data.
