Our research projects involve 1) studies of the relationship between exposure to environmental insults such as heavy metals and population health in Southern Colorado; 2) determination of mechanism(s) of reproductive toxicity of the psoralens, naturally occurring plant toxicants known to be carcinogenic, but used to treat skin disorders; 3) determination of the role of genetic polymorphisms in specific cytochrome P450s in ethnic disparities observed in menopausal symptoms and in the metabolism of the cancer drug Tamoxifen.
