Dr. Thomas Bertolini obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from University of California, San Diego in 2001. His graduate work focused on synthetic modifications to phorbol esters (the most powerful tumor promoters known to man) and Fischer carbene-mediated cyclizations. Dr. Bertolini taught chemistry for four years at University of California, Irvine and worked in the biotechnology industry before coming to USC. His interests include chemical education and curriculum development.
