Dr. Lu is a researcher and an engineer with many years experience in design and characterization of materials, specializing in biomaterials and developing test capabilities to meet complicated design requirements. Before rejoining UNSW this year, she worked as a design engineer for 6 years in a global medical device company in Australia. She designed a ceramic substrate sintering process used in bionic eye implant prototypes reducing the rejection rate of the substrates by 50%. Currently she works on the development and fabrication of 3D printing ceramic scaffolds for bone substitutes.
