Physical Chemistry

Associate provost and director for the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development. The Center supports the professional development of faculty across all career stages and disciplines with a wide range of programs and resources focused on teaching, mentoring, scholarly writing, tenure preparation, leadership, and work/life balance. In collaboration with the Graduate School, the center also provides teaching development support for graduate students.

Pursued an academic career that combined teaching Physical and General Chemistry and researching innovations in chemistry teaching. Pioneered and evaluated a number of technology-enhanced approaches to teaching, as well as pedagogical approaches that engage students early on in inquiry, research and collaborative problem solving as part of their regular course work. Is a fellow of the AAAS.
