个人简介

Dr Adriana Ford-Thompson joined the University of Greenwich in February 2015.She is an interdisciplinary scientist working in the field of socio-ecological systems, biodiversity conservation and community development.

Adriana Ford-Thompson began her career by studying Natural Sciences, specialising in Zoology, at the University of Cambridge (2000-3). She then went on to complete an MSc in Environmental Technology, specialising in Ecological Management, at Imperial College London (2004-5) where she developed a greater interest in the human side of nature conservation, and conducted her thesis on community-based wildlife management in Tanzania. This led her to work as a research and communications officer at a conservation and development NGO in Tanzania for a short period (2006-7).

Adriana Ford-Thompson then moved to York where she completed her PhD titled Conservation, Society and Invasive Species (2007-12), which explored the human dimensions of invasive species management in Australia (funded by IACRC and ESRC). Following this, Adriana was appointed as a Research and Teaching Fellow in the Environment Department at the University of York (2011-15), where she worked on projects on ecosystem services and the links between ecosystem and human health. Her teaching included environmental policy, tools and techniques for studying the environment, biodiversity and society, environmental economics and wildlife management, amongst others. At Greenwich, Adriana's work focuses on small-scale fisheries, cultural ecosystem services, responsible tourism and community development.
