个人简介
In 2010 Salvatore obtained a BSc Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Catania (Italy). The experimental project for the draft of the final dissertation, titled “Molecular signals in the 3’ UTR of oocyte-specific transcripts and their biological role”, was carried out at Department of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Catania. He also obtained a MSc Degree in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnologies from the University of Pisa (Italy) in 2013. His MSc thesis titled “Proteomic analysis of factors released by Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells” was performed with the Proteomic and System Biology Group at the Institute of Clinical Physiology (IFC) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) of Pisa. In this work an untargeted proteomics approach was exploited to characterize vesicles released by Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells (VSMCs) and a preliminary protein profile for microvesicles and exosomes of different cell phenotypes was obtained. The data have been published in the scientific journal Molecular ByoSystems. In August 2014 Salvatore joined the University of Dundee as a Marie Curie ESR fellow and PhD Student working on the PHOtonic tools for Quantitative imaging in tissUeS (PHOQUS) project. The title of his research is “Multispectral Preclinical Cardiovascular Diagnostics”under the supervision of Dr Faisel Khan and Dr Mike MacDonald.
