Fiona is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education within the undergraduate MBChB programme. She is the Outcome Lead for Tomorrow’s Doctors ‘Doctor as a Professional’ https://mbchb.dundee.ac.uk/professionalism/about/; Supports cross College links, developing leadership for professional education, within the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing; Programme Lead for the BMSc Teaching in Medicine TIM programme BMSc Teaching in Medicine Programme; Facilitator for Writing a Journal Article course; Lead for the Student Selected Component: Medical Education. Her role extends as Research Degrees Programme Lead for Kuwait-Scotland eHealth Innovation Network http://www.dasmaninstitute.org/kuwait-scotland-education and uTCGP Education Research Lead. Fiona contributes to programme design, planning, implementation and evaluation, provides teaching, supervisory support and staff development. From 2005-2013 Fiona was the co - Academic Lead for the Undergraduate Community Programme and Lead for the award winning Student Selected Component: The Doctor and Nurse as Teacher (in collaboration with local schools). This latter project received Dundee City Council ‘Employer Engagement Award’, October 2009 and Commended by General Medical Council – Quality Assurance of Basic Medical Education Report 2009 and Nursing and Midwifery Council - Annual Monitoring Report Feb 2012. Fiona has a varied background in adult, child health and practice nursing, nurse education and medical education. She completed the Master of Education (2003) and Professional Doctorate of Education at University of Strathclyde (2009). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research interests are in reflective practice, inter-professional education, professionalism, developing the doctor as a teacher, multi-cultural education.Fiona received the ‘Continuing Excellence in Medical Education Award 2013’ and ‘Honorary Graduate Award for Innovative Teaching 2008-09’.
