Research is directed at studying the postsynaptic signal transduction systems of excitatory synapses. The laboratory uses biochemical and molecular biological techniques to identify proteins associated with NMDA receptors, to characterize the interactions among these proteins, and to determine their specific roles in the function of excitatory synapses.
