Louise graduated in Pharmacy from Liverpool John Moores University in 1997 and started a career as a pharmacist with Boots Chemists, holding a variety of pharmacist positions, before becoming Pharmacy Manager and then Store Manager. In 2002 she was appointed as Boots Teacher Practitioner at Liverpool John Moores University. This role combined university teaching with training within Boots for summer students, pre-registration students, accuracy checking technicians and home and overseas pharmacists. She completed her Clinical Diploma (De Montfort University) in 2003. In 2008 she joined UCLan as Teacher Practitioner, combining university work with regular practice as a community pharmacist. She led on the development of the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice, and has been Course Leader for this programme since its first intake of students in 2010. She gained her Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2011, after completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
