研究领域

Dr Agarwal's research aims to reduce noise generated by fluid-flow devices, which range from small domestic appliances like hand driers and vacuum cleaners to wind turbines and industrial and aircraft gas turbines. Dr Agarwal's research involves a combination of experiments, mathematical modelling and numerical simulations. Dr Agarwal has been a part of a new and expanding collaboration between University of Cambridge and Dyson Limited. He is supervising PhD projects on domestic fan noise, hand drier noise and cyclone separator noise. A key contribution so far has been a development of a new rig design for testing fan noise. This design is more efficient and accurate than the existing ISO standard. Dr Agarwal is also interested in fun science projects. For example, he along with an undergraduate project student figured out how steam kettles whistle. They developed the first successful model for a kettle whistle.
