研究领域
Research interests include the development of electroanalytical and in situ spectro-electrochemical techniques and their application to problems in analytical chemistry, electrochemistry and bio-electrochemistry. Particular emphasis at present is placed on the use of in situ Fourier Transform Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy to elucidate the role of adsorbed intermediates in the electro-catalytic oxidation of small organic molecules at solid electrodes. Such studies are of fundamental importance in the field of electrocatalysis. Also of current interest is the anodic oxidation of a variety of synthetic metalloporphyrins. Modern voltammetric and spectroelectrochemical methods are being applied to understand how the axial coordination environment of the central metal atom in the metalloprophyrins influences the site of electron transfer within the complexes, and at assessing the potential of the oxidized porphyrins as models for a variety of porphyrin mediated biological reactions.
