In 2007 I graduated from the department of molecular biology and genetics at the Dimokritous University of Thrace (MBG-DUTH). I undertook my first research project as a diploma student at the laboratory of Dr. Thireos at the Institute of molecular biology and biotechnology (IMBB-FORTH), where I carried out yeast assays to identify proteins which bind to the promoter of the Arabidopsis gene SHOOT MERISTEMLESS. During my undergraduate studies in Greece I had already developed a keen interest on plant physiology and development and therefore in 2008 I joined the University of Bristol as a PhD student studying guard cells with the Hetherington group
