For the early part of my career I worked and trained in Manchester before spending two years at the University Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, as a lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the University of Malaysia. I then did research into cervical carcinoma as a Joseph Starkey Research Fellow at the Patterson Institute, Manchester. After working as a Senior Registrar in Exeter I came to Bristol in 1995. One of my principal responsibilities in the division is co-ordination and development of the undergraduate course in Reproductive Health and Care of the Newborn
