研究领域
Organic Chemistry Our interdisciplinary research focuses on the development and study of novel supramolecular systems in aqueous solution. The aim of our work is two-fold. First, we seek to identify new and unique phenomena that can only arise though the precise structural control of nano-scale supramolecular species in solution. Examples include, the separation of hydrocarbon gases using aqueous solutions, selective molecular protection and the kinetic resolution of molecular mixtures, or the development of nano-scale reaction vessels. Second, we use supramolecular systems to study the fundamental properties of aqueous solutions, in particular the molecular basis of the Hydrophobic Effect and the Hofmeister Effect.
