Our research centres on the development and application of organic synthetic methods. Current interests include the metal-free radical cyclisation of unsaturated ketoesters, stereoselective electrocyclic and cycloaddition reactions, and asymmetric induction using chiral auxiliaries. Targets include anticancer and antifungal agents, antimalarials, naturally occurring polyenes and various terpenoids. The objectives in each area under study are the development of effective synthetic processes and the provision of biologically active materials for research purposes.
