个人简介

Vivien (Viv) is a biologist with a keen interest in tackling complex biological, developmental and physiological processes using a combination of molecular biology and state-of-the-art microscopy. Before working on plants, Viv worked with one of the most widely used animal model for genetic and developmental studies: Drosophila (fruit fly). Viv completed a PhD with Dr. Juergen Knoblich (IMBA, Austria) on the balance between proliferation and cell differentiation in neural stem cell lineages. Keen to apply his broad skill set to a new field, Viv decided to do a short postdoc with Professor Marilyn Ball (ANU), where he studied in vitro and in vivo embolism resorption in angiosperms, using advanced microscopy. Viv then did a postdoc with Professor Dean Price and Prof. Murray Badger (ANU) during which he worked on enhancing photosynthesis by implementing components of the cyanobacterial CO2-concentrating mechanism into higher plants, with the long-term goal of improving crop yield.
