研究领域

Inorganic Chemistry

My research interests lie broadly in inorganic transition metal chemistry, with specific focus on redox reactions catalyzed or promoted by transitional metal complexes that mimic (or are inspired by) enzymatic actives sites. This is exemplified by my proposed research projects, with proposal I on selective oxidative functionalization of polyols and saccharides, and proposal II on multiple electron processes that lead to the activation of small molecules (e.g., CO2 and O2). Both projects are connected by the use of simple model complexes of transition metals (e.g. Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) and their important consequences for renewable energy. In addition to synthetic transition metal chemistry, I am also interested in the bioinorganic chemistry as shown by proposal III on transferrin and reactive anions. This work is directly applicable to the design of metal-ion-based therapy and the development of novel imaging technologies.
