研究领域
Dr Broughton is a senior member within the Vascular Biology and Immunopharmacology Group in the Department of Pharmacology at Monash University. Brad’s work has contributed to our knowledge of reactive oxygen species, calcium, apoptosis, oestrogen, Rho kinase and nitric oxide signalling in the systemic, pulmonary and cerebral circulations. His studies have elucidated physiological mechanisms in vivo and in vitro, identified gender differences, as well as abnormalities in diseases including, stroke, pulmonary hypertension, and atherosclerosis. Brad’s work has been published in numerous journals, including Nature Communications, Stroke, Hypertension, PLoS Pathogens, JCBFM and Antioxidants & Redox Signaling.
A major emphasis of Brad’s current research involves examining the contribution of the novel G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (also known as GPR30) on stroke outcome and assessing whether stem cells-derived from human placenta are a viable and effective clinical therapy for neuroprotection post-stroke.
