Dr. Harcombe specializes in molecular biology, bacterial genetics, and microbiology. She teaches introductory courses in cell biology and microbiology, and senior-level courses in bacterial genetics, gene regulation, genomics, and molecular lab techniques. Her research focuses on the genetic mechanisms regulating antibiotic production and life cycle progression in the soil bacterium Streptomyces coelicolor, a model organism for industrial antibiotic production.
