My employment at this university commenced in1985 on a series of casual contracts in the discipline area of chemistry for positions as lecturer, tutor, laboratory demonstrator, marker, reviewer and author of study materials. I was employed in a continuing position in 2009.

The driving force in my approach to academic duties is ultimately one of respect for students as individuals and in service to them to assist them in their learning journey. This provides the basis to develop teaching methods optimising learning opportunities for students through recognition of their varied backgrounds and learning styles. Furthermore it has driven me to initiate and subsequently develop projects to provide support to assist students, improving their success and reducing attrition.
