Avis Mysyk received her doctorate in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Manitoba. Presently, she is Associate Professor of Anthropology at CBU. Her geographical area of specialization is Latin America, with a focus on Mexico. Her theoretical and methodological approaches include political economy, qualitative methods, and ethnohistory. Among her substantive areas of interest are labour, tourism, and health and illness.
