Dr. Godwin B. D’Cunha (B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry – University of Mumbai, India) is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at CBU; he teaches General, Introductory Organic and Biological Chemistry, and Biochemistry. The D’Cunha research group works on fundamental and applied enzymology using Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase as the model protein. Fundamental work includes a systematic study investigating the correlation of enzyme structure with function in non-aqueous media. Applied work involves exploring the use of enzymes in the synthesis of molecules of clinical and industrial significance. The group also carries out studies on antimicrobial potential of molecules/ chemicals synthesized using enzymes.
