研究领域
My research interest is in synthetic organic medicinal chemistry, specifically the design and synthesis of small molecule α-helix mimetics for targeting the E6 oncoprotein in high risk strains of human papillomavirus (HPV). Computational docking experiments aid in our design of novel classes of α-helix mimetic drugs. We use organic synthetic chemistry to make target compounds that will be tested for their potency against HPV-16 E6 in collaboration with biochemical research groups. We can also append photosensitizing moieties to compounds showing activity in an effort to make drugs useful for photodynamic inactivation (PDI) of the virus.
