1960年出生，江西南昌市人，理学博士，二级研究员。农业部淡水生物多样性保护与利用重点开放实验室主任。华中农业大学、西南大学教授，博导；中国科学院水生生物研究生博导。 1984年6月毕业于江西大学(现南昌大学)生物系，获学士学位，毕业分配至中国水产科学研究院长江所工作，2000年师从曹文宣院士及美国麻省大学B.Kynard教授攻读博士学位，2004年获中科院水生所博士学位。研究兴趣为大型濒危鱼类保护，并致力于鲟鱼类的可持续利用研究，与美、日、德、捷克同行建有长期合作关系。承担科技部基础工作重点专项、公益性研究、国家支撑计划、农业及水利行业专项以及国家自然科学基金等各类科研项目50余项。 学术兼职主要有：国际自然保护联盟物种生存委员会组成员、世界鲟鱼保护学会理事、国家级自然保护区评审委员会委员、国家湿地科学技术委员会委员以及《Current Zoology》杂志编委等。
