1979年毕业于华中农业大学，同年到中国农科院棉花研究所工作。现任本所栽培与耕作研究室主任，国家棉花产业技术研发中心栽培与耕作研究室主任，研究员，博士生导师，中国农业科学院第六届学术委员会委员，中国优质棉网总监。《棉花学报》和《科学种养》编委。
