亚波长结构光子/电磁学,纳米光子学;超材料,表面等离子体波,光子晶体
本研究组主要围绕亚波长结构光子/电磁学展开研究。 在光频段,金属在其表面能支持强局域的表面等离子体波(plasmon)。金属纳米结构使得我们能在纳米尺度对光有效操纵。这可用于超分辨成像、超敏感折射率/光谱传感、单分子识别、纳米激光器、高密度光集成等领域。亚波长尺度的金属微结构在微波段、太赫兹波段也能支持强烈的局域共振。另外,由高折射介质构成的亚波长微结构也能支持较为强烈的局域共振,由此也能获得较强烈的局域场,并且几乎无材料损耗。类似于金属,介质亚波长结构也可有广泛的用途。 由亚波长金属/介质微纳结构按一定方式(通常是周期性排列)所构造的宏观体会具有特殊的光电磁响应。当周期略小于工作波长时,这时宏观体一般当作光子晶体(各个单元对光进行来回散射),其行为通常由其能带来决定,类似于电子能带。一个最为突出的效应是禁带,利用禁带可灵活获得高约束的导波/共振结构。当周期远小于工作波长时,宏观体一般当作人工超材料(metamaterial),由等效电磁参数描述其响应,如负折射率、零折射率、双曲型介电常数等。基于超材料,可实现很多基于自然材料所无法获得的特殊现象和应用,如超透镜、隐身衣、隐身材料、平面化透镜等。
