Ms. Stella Shi joined the ELC as a lecturer in the fall of 2021. Before entering UIC, she served and taught in two distinguished military academies in Xi’an and Beijing for over twenty years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English language and culture from Xi’an Foreign Studies University and a Master of Arts in applied linguistics from Xi’an Jiaotong University. She was also a visiting fellow of linguistics at Peking University, where she focused on pragmatics. Her research interests lie in learners’ autonomy, L2 classroom interaction, and the comparative culture approach.
