早期的研究领域主要集中在国内条件下基于超短超强激光装置的极高能量密度极端物理实验条件的建立和发展；近年来，研究方向逐步转向利用激光冷却原子技术的超冷强耦合等离子体物理和量子成像及其应用研究。
