Prof. Christian Aspalter got his Doctorate of Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Linz, Austria. He has published over 20 books, as well as numerous journals articles, on social policy (including health policy). In 2006, Prof. Aspalter has set up the Social Work and Social Administration Program of BNU-HKBU United International College in Zhuhai, China. His study, research activities and teaching posts brought him to e.g. Korea (Seoul National University), Taiwan (National Taiwan University), Hong Kong (The University of Hong Kong), Australia (Australian National University), and Austria (Johannes Kepler University of Linz). In 2005, he was honored personally by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, as a Senior Fellow of the Institut Sosial Malaysia (ISM) of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. Apart from ISM, Prof. Aspalter also worked/researched for the Korean Institute for Health and Social Affairs, and the National Pension Service, both in Korea. He also worked with the International Social Security Association (Geneva), e.g. delivering a keynote lecture on the future of pensions in Manila in 2009. Recently, Prof. Aspalter wrote key chapters for the United Nations (Population Development Division) and the Spanish Government (National Research Council), on "Healthy Aging" and "Active Aging with High Quality of Life" respectively.
