Before joining UIC in 2020, he taught English and philosophy at Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai Campus). He was awarded a doctorate in philosophy from Durham University in the UK, and his research focuses on issues in the philosophy of perception. He has published several articles on the theory of disjunctivism and its use in defending forms of naïve realism. He is currently writing a textbook aimed at introducing philosophy and critical thinking to non-native English speakers at undergraduate level.
