1976年出生于黑龙江省哈尔滨市。2004年获得吉林大学理学博士学位；2004年7月赴德国马普胶体界面所从事博士后研究，获“洪堡”基金会和“马普”协会资助。2007年3月作为学术带头人加入超分子实验室工作，任教授，博士生导师。近年在《美国化学会志》，《德国应用化学》，《先进材料》等SCI杂志上发表研究论文140余篇；应邀为英国皇家化学会《化学会评论》，《先进功能材料》等杂志撰写专论；被《自然》，《科学》等SCI杂志正面引用和高度评价，SCI他引2500余次，H因子为27。授权发明专利10余项。
