共青团员，美国康奈尔大学 (Cornell University) 政府系比较政治学专业毕业，研究生学历，哲学博士。曾在美国Union College 和 美国麻省大学波士顿分校 (University of Massachusetts Boston) 担任政治系助理教授，现任华中师范大学政治与国际关系学院教授。
